Residents at the Sharpsburg Tower in Sharpsburg, Pennsylvania are able to drink the building’s water once again. The water had been restricted since November when Legionella bacteria had been found in the system and caused one woman to become ill.
One hundred residents in the Sharpsburg Tower were given bottled water to consume instead during this time.
According to the Allegheny County Health Department, the Legionella is now out of the water system. A device had been installed to disinfect the water. Residents also said that a worker came into rooms once a week to run the water for 20 minutes to try to flush the bacteria out of the system.
