On Thursday, Nov. 21, the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, West Virginia began hyperchlorinating its water system in response to the finding of Legionella bacteria.  A Veterans Affairs Department public affairs officer also said that steps are being taken to monitor the water system to prevent infections in veterans, employees, and others visiting the medical center.

Chad Bundy, an administrator of the Clarksburg-Harrison Board of Health, said that the Legionella levels were low and it was therefore not required to be reported to the EPA.
