This is an update to the previous post: http://www.legionnairelawyer.com/update-7-cases-confirmed-in-edinburgh/

The Edinburgh Legionnaires’ disease outbreak has claimed its first life, according to MSNBC and other sources.  A man in his 50s with underlying health problems has succumbed to the illness.  Another 15 people are in critical condition and another 15 cases are suspected on top of that.  Officials believe that number will continue to grow in the coming days.  While samples have been taken from 16 industrial cooling towers, officials still await results that could help them determine the source of the bacteria.  So far, cases have been confined to south west Edinburgh.

Legionnaires’ disease is contracted when aerosolized water containing Legionella bacteria is breathed into the lungs.  It mostly affects individuals with underlying health problems, the elderly, and people with smoking and drinking habits.

Please check back for updates on this outbreak.
