Fife Today and other sources report that the number of cases associated with the Legionnaires’ disease outbreak in Scotland has risen to 82. There are now 37 confirmed cases, and an additional 45 suspected. Scotland Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon considers these numbers to be somewhat encouraging, considering the increase in cases has slowed down in recent days: “These latest figures are reassuring and in line with expectations, and although it is too early to be definite they do suggest we are now in the later stages of this outbreak.” Health officials are still investigating the source of the outbreak and hope to get more definitive answers in the next few days.
