Hong Kong’s Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health began investigating two additional cases of Legionnaires’ disease yesterday, June 3.
The first case involves an 81-year-old man who became symptomatic on May 30 with fever and cough. He is currently in serious condition.
The second case involves a 60-year-old man who developed symptoms of fever and shortness of breath on May 28. He is in critical condition.
Both men have tested positive for Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1. These cases brings Hong Kong’s count of Legionnaires’ disease cases up to 17 so far for the year.
