The Super 8 Motel near Olympia, WA, which closed it’s doors on July 2nd due to the presence of Legionella bacteria, has reopened for business after treating its water system to the Thurston County Health Department’s recommendations.
The first two cases linked to the motel were identified by the health department on June 26; a third was announced on July 1.
“We really appreciate the motel’s cooperation with us throughout our investigation, and for working with us to protect public health,” said Dr. Rachel Wood, Thurston County health officer. “They worked quickly to implement the recommendations and I’m glad to see them reopen.”
Treatment at the motel was completed on July 10. Any person who visited the motel before this date is urged to monitor their health and contact a physician if they become ill.
