St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY has discovered Legionella bacteria again after experiencing a Legionnaires’ disease outbreak last month.
Three people were treated at St. Joseph’s for Legionnaires’ disease, two were patients of the hospital when they became ill. It is believed that these two individuals contracted the illness at the hospital. A third patient died, however, the source of the illness is unclear.
A hospital spokesperson has said that they are being “vigilant and aggressive” with ongoing testing and that there have been no new cases of Legionnaires’ disease in six weeks.
