As of October 13, Legionnaires’ disease is still being monitored at the San Quentin State Prison following an outbreak that resulted in six severe cases. 85 others at the prison showed symptoms similar to Legionnaires’ disease.
Residents in the nearby San Quentin Village were notified of the situation through public education fliers and regular updates. The Marin Municipal Water District also confirmed that the Village’s water supply was separate from the prison water supply.
There are no confirmed cases of Legionnaires’ disease among any of the staff, guards, or visitors of the prison.
