43 people are sick and a woman has died due to an outbreak of Legionnaires disease in Madrid, according to The Kuwait News Agency. The health ministry warns that more cases may appear over the next few days, and has begun disinfecting the cooling system at the restaurant that is the suspected source. 48 other cooling systems in the region have also been inspected by the health ministry. The sick include 29 men and 14 women between ages 35 and 87. Outbreaks of Legionnaires disease have not been uncommon in Spain, where warm temperatures lead to an ideal growing environment for Legionella bacteria and over 1,400 people contract the disease every year.
