The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is monitoring a new cluster of Legionnaires’ disease cases in the Bronx. As of yesterday, seven cases have been reported in this new outbreak in the Morris Park neighborhood of the Bronx.
This recent outbreak is reported to be unrelated to the Legionnaires’ disease outbreak that occurred in the South Bronx in July. The first case in the new cluster was reported on Sept. 21; there have been no fatalities so far.
New York City typically receives 200-300 reports of Legionnaires’ disease cases in a year.
