At least two patients at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in the Woolwich district of London have tested positive for Legionnaires’ disease. Reports indicate that one patient has already been treated and released for the infection, while another remains hospitalized.
At this moment, officials are cautious about identifying the hospital as the source of the outbreak, but it is known that both victims were treated at the hospital. Curiously, officials have indicated that they suspect one of the victims may have contracted the disease in a location other than the hospital. The outbreak is now being investigated by the UK’s Health Protection Agency, and testing on the water system at Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital appears to be underway.
