There are now 13 confirmed cases and one fatality linked with the Legionnaires’ disease outbreak in Alabama.
According to the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), the person who died was visiting Florence, Ala. with two other family members and developed respiratory problems after returning home. The patient subsequently died after being hospitalized for respiratory issues. One of the other family members was also hospitalized; both are being tested.
The ADPH also reported that none of the healthcare workers, who assisted the patients, sick from Legionella, became ill.
