Legionella has been found in the Albecq Ward in Castel Hospital. The hospital is in Guernsey, an island in the English Channel off the coast of Normandy. Bacteria were found during routine water testing and the Health and Social Services department.
Guernsey hospitals have had problems with Legionella in the past. Last year, the system at Princess Elizabeth hospital was shut down to remedy the Legionella problem.
The Albecq Ward is undergoing superheating treatment to kill the bacteria. The Ward is still open, but the showers have been turned off. Castel Hospital.
