According to news reports late last week, Legionella was found at a Veterans Affairs clinic in Western Pennsylvania. The clinic at the Washington Crown Center, in North Franklin Township was closed on Friday after the bacteria was found in the water system. The Pittsburgh VA’s deadly outbreak and alleged mishandling of the situation has brought Legionnaires’ disease into the public eye in Western Pennsylvania within the past year. This clinic at Washington Crown Center was not related to the Pittsburgh VA outbreak. In this case, there have been no reports of anyone becoming sick from the water at the clinic, to date.
