In light of the changes to HSG274 Part 2 of the Legionella Safety Control Guidelines in the UK, Legionella Control International will be hosting a series of nationwide ‘Breakfast Briefings.’
These seminars are intended to help facilities managers decipher the major changes to the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) ACOP L8 and HSG274 Part 2 (Hot and Cold Water Systems).
The regulation changes will affect any company or organization in the UK that provides hot and cold water on their premises. It is vital that business owners, and facilities and health managers are aware of the requirements to maintain the safety of any person who may spend time at their facilities.
The new rules regarding Legionella (bacteria that can cause pneumonia in a person) control were created based on an amended edition of the HSE’s Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) L8, as well as an additional guidance document called HSG274.
According to John Dobson, Managing Director of Legionella Control International, “Hot and cold water systems, covered by the new HSG274 Part 2, are by far the most common form of water system that can potentially create a Legionella risk and so these changes are likely to affect you, your staff and your organization. It is therefore essential that you understand the changes and adjust your Legionella risk management systems to remain fully compliant with the law.”
