According to an article in the Federal Times, Legionella was found in the Frank Hagel Federal Building in Richmond, Calif. Tests performed on Aug. 27 showed Legionella was seen in the restrooms’ water supply. Additional water samples were taken on Sept. 10; results from these samples are expected in a few more days.
Also, according to ABC7 Local News, a Social Security Administration spokeswoman said that the Legionella had been boiled out of the building’s tepid water system – warm water used in sinks, not for drinking. This Legionella finding has been particularly worrisome to employees because of an outbreak that occurred at the same facility in 1991, killing one woman and sickening multiple others.
