The BBC and other news outlets report that four men have acquired Legionnaires’ disease in Edinburgh over the last month.  Another four cases are suspected, but have not yet been confirmed.  Officials have yet to locate the source of the Legionella bacteria, although several cooling towers in an area of south west Edinburgh are being chemically treated.  Of the four confirmed cases, three are currently being treated in intensive care, and another is in a high dependency unit.  Officials are working to discover the source of the bacteria, so they can take appropriate remediation actions to prevent future illnesses.
