Health officials in California that the number of inmates presenting with symptoms consistent with Legionnaires’ disease has risen to 73 at San Quentin State Prison.
The inmates are currently under observation, but have not yet been diagnosed. They are all being treated at the on-site medical unit.
According to Dana Simas, state corrections department spokeswoman, inmates are receiving boxed meals and taking showers in portable shower units.
The source of the Legionnaires’ disease outbreak is still being investigated.
