Media Reports indicate that the presence of legionella bacteria was detected in August of 2007 in Grand Rapids, MI. One person contracted Legionnaires’ Disease and died of pneumonia contracted from the bacteria.

 

The media in San Antonio reported thirty cases of Legionnaires’ Disease, including three deaths, from April 2006 through April 2007. In one of the outbreaks eleven individuals contracted Legionnaires’ Disease.

 

The media is reporting a Legionnaires’ Disease outbreak in Elmira, New York. As of August 2008, 6 confirmed cases, 3 unconfirmed cases and one death have been reported. For more information please see: Three more residents may have Legionnaires’ courtesy of the Star Gazette.

 

Legionella is a possible cause of the illness that infected fifteen people in early August 2008 in Bullhead City, Arizona.

 

The media is reporting a potential outbreak in the Rochester, New York area in August 2008. There was also an earlier outbreak at the same location in February 2006.

 

A hotel in Killington, Vermont tested positive for Legionella bacteria in June 2008.

 

A Legionnaires’ Disease outbreak was reported in the Orlando area of Florida in March 2008.

 

Three people tested positive for Legionnaires’ Disease following a May 2008 outbreak in McHenry, Illinois.The bacteria was detected again in July 2008.
