The NC Department of Health and Human Services was working with an engineering company over the weekend to conduct an environmental assessment.
According to state health officials, Longleaf is not taking new clients for the time being and has also implemented measures to protect residents, visitors, and staff.
“Facility water has been discontinued for showering and bathing until testing confirms the water is safe or special filtration systems are in place,” said the health official.
